WHO WE ARE
Who We Are
“Familia Moja” means “One Family” in Kiswahili — a name that beautifully reflects our mission. We’re not just a children’s home; we’re a warm, nurturing community where children from all backgrounds find love, care, and a deep sense of belonging.
Founded in September 2007 by Wambui Muiru, with the generous support of Jess White and James Woodward, Familia Moja was born from compassion and a calling to serve. To this day, Wambui remains the heart and soul of our home, embodying the love, unity, and purpose we live by.
Our Work
Located in Mang’u Location, Gatundu North Sub-county, Kiambu County, Familia Moja currently supports 79 children—34 who live in our home and 45 through our outreach program.
For outreach children, we provide vital support such as school fees, clothing, and regular food supplies, ensuring they stay in school and thrive in their communities.
Community Impact
Our commitment extends beyond our gates. We run a community outreach program that supports vulnerable groups including the elderly and needy families with foodstuffs, bedding, and emotional support. We also offer psychosocial care to nurture the mental and emotional well-being of the
children in our care.
When resources allow, we also operate a street families initiative in Juja, offering basic needs, hope, and rehabilitation opportunities to individuals living on the streets.
Our Philosophy
At Familia Moja, we do more than provide the basics. We raise our children in a loving, value-driven environment where they grow with dignity, hope, and a sense of purpose.
Our goal is to empower every child to face the world with confidence, compassion, and courage.
